Children, Make Your Parents Proud

Parents always expect their children to live healthy and productive lives. No parent is happy when their children cause them embarrassment. Many parents would like their children to follow in their footsteps, but each child is different; therefore, every home must be used as a training ground for children so that when they leave their parents’ home, their attitudes and actions will make their parents proud.

Every child must try to adopt or emulate their parents’ positive behaviors so they can do things that will make the family proud. If they are unable to understand their parents, there will be many conflicts on a regular basis. Children must understand that duties performed in the home are a sign of responsibility and maturity, and as they get older, their responsibilities within the home will increase. For example, some children may be asked to go to the market to purchase groceries on their parents’ behalf.

Parents can be firm with their children, as they want the best for them. This may be contrary to what some children would prefer, but as children continue to follow their parents’ guidance, they will realize that their parents’ intention is to help them to become better individuals.

In single-parent families, the older siblings may be tasked with supervising the other members of the family in the parent’s absence. Those children who learn to work within the home will be providing themselves with an advantage when they have their own family, as many of the skills learned at home are essential for any family.

There may be strangers who will introduce criminal activities to children. However, children must follow the good values their parents have taught them.

When children increase their academic qualifications, they give themselves an advantage in employment opportunities. Educated children can make outstanding contributions, which can lead to winning national awards. On the other hand, ignorance is costly, so children must strive to acquire knowledge.

Children that connect with religion may have an opportunity to practice their religion at school and other places. If the school has cultural events, some children may be chosen to participate depending on their religion. Culture can also provide an opportunity for many children to visit other communities and countries.

Exercising is important for every child. Many children who participate in sports learn discipline, which will enhance their chances of future success.

Respecting the elderly is important, and children are expected to embrace this. Many elderly persons have already contributed to society, so the younger generation must provide the support they need.

Finally, children must be able to have fun and take vacations, though they will need supervision. Staying healthy and reducing stress is important for children and their parents.

  • Author's Background

From a young age, Geary Reid learned important values from his parents. They expected him to try his very best in school and get good grades—and they checked his schoolwork regularly to make sure he was doing so. Nor did they allow stealing of any kind: He could not even bring home a pencil he had forgotten to return. Based on this experience, he knows children do not always see eye to eye with their parents about the dangers that lie ahead, so he has written this guide with easy steps children can follow to make their parents proud.
